About the Artist:

Jaya is a South Asian artist based in Toronto. She is a member of a number Canadian art associations including the Ontario Society of Artists and has won many awards and accolades for her work.

Artist's Statement: 

Pablo Picasso once said, "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life". This quote in its entirety captures my passion, approach and feelings towards art. Art allows me to express the reality of the world by making it my own, through interpretation and imagination. And in doing so, it makes the mundane appear extraordinary. 

My intention as an artist is to create colorful and simple art that conveys human emotions, evokes positive feelings and can be enjoyed by everyone. Inspired by the beauty of human interactions, my work is an expression of my vision and creativity portrayed through the use of simple shapes, forms, colours and textures, to convey various human emotions that connect us all. I express my thoughts through human and abstract forms and use bright and bold colours. Every form in my artwork has a purpose and is interconnected that allows me to tell a story.
